On the approach to Colwich Abbey

We had a really great time on U.C.M retreat today. The day began with thunder and lightening but by the time of our arrival, the bad weather had passed which made it all the more pleasant. Reflections on the Beatitudes and a lecture on fighting heresy were the di
scussion topics of the day…and some people think all mothers are good for is washing laundry and cooking dinner ;-) Here are some pic’s I took while there. Enjoy! Mum bought me a great set of prayer beads while at Colwich, I’m going to sidle of to bed now to read the pamphlet that came with it and spend a little more time in prayer.

Aren’t retreats just incredible for pulling you right back to centre? I feel rather reluctant to return to worldly life after being enclosed and having that time apart from the treadmill of life to reflect in such depth on my relationship with Christ. It’s all good.

The structure of the rtreat in brief was this: We had a lecture/talk followed by the prayers of the Divine Office with the Benedictine nuns, then we had Mass, then we ate, then more prayer, a further lecture, further prayer, hyms and Benediction. Then it was back home.

Sr. Davina is pictured above with Chelsea the rescue dog of Colwich Abbey, the dog looked from the balcony, down over the chapel while we were praying! He got lots of tea and cake before we leftthe abbey as he made the rounds with Sr. Davina to visit the 60-70 or so of us that were gathered for the retreat.
