I like Mr Obama....but I am a Republican....I can't believe we let Bush Jnr get ourselves into Afghanistan and Iraq....what were we thinking....how many US and ROW solidiers have died....what about the civilians.....they aren't combat people...how do they face that on a day to day basis....while we wake up to cheerios and fresh milk. Let us get the UN in.....we will support them with fire power......we just shouldn't be leading this stuff.....the only reason for ourselves and the UK to be so front of shop is if we were trying to spyphon off the monies for ourselves....and that is not what we want to do....so let us support UN co-ordination of this war. ]]> Comment on Twas the Month Before Christmas…. by ticktock http://catholicconvert.wordpress.com/2008/11/30/twas-the-month-before-christmas/#comment-16960 ticktock Thu, 19 Nov 2009 00:52:21 +0000 http://catholicconvert.wordpress.com/?p=3271#comment-16960 Athesits, agnostics, humantists, and people of non Christian faiths cannot destroy Christmas...large sections of the aforementioned get involved in Christmas - for reasons of cultural cohesion, pure humanitarianism, hedonism, or whatever - if anyone destroyed Christmas....it was Christians....how is it that amongst my Muslim, Jewish, Buddist, Hindu, Athesitic, Jedi, etc friends....we all celebrate what there is to celebrate about each others' faith, culture and religion...my Muslim friends who wear the Burkhas...the others who have a sneaky bacon sandwich and the odd bottle of beer....we all come from different types of families, from different cultures and traditions....there are certain things we have in common...it might be gender, it might be geography, it might be theology.....but we all know, what we really have in common, is that we are all from the species...when it comes to emotions and values....as different as we may seem on the surface....in truth...you couldn't slide a piece of paper between us. Even those who seem to oppose us, who seem to distance themselves from us (on grounds of race, religion, colour, ethnicity, yadda, yadda, yadda....you get my drift)....we can't but help to see the similiarities. Perhaps, forsaking Socrates (only momentarily), we should say, in the words of the great philosopher, Mr W Connolly....."everywhere you go is just another place where people live".......don't tolerate intolerance in others, and don't tolerate it in yourself. Don't pretend you are persecuted....you are not.
