Brother Lawrence’s Fourth Letter

An excerpt of Brother Lawrence’s Fourth Letter :

God …. has infinate treasure to bestow, and we take up with a little sensible devotion, which passes in a moment. Blind as we are we hinder God and stop the current of His graces. But when he finds a soul penetrated with a lively faith, He pours into it His graces and favours plentifully; there they flow like a torrent, which after being forcibly stopped against its ordinary course, when it has found a passage, spreads itself with impetuosity and abundance”

Yes indeed, God does have great treasures to bestow on us, and yet how ready are we to accept them? How well prepared are we to receive Him? How lively do we live our faith, do we reserve our worship of God for Sundays? We should not be shy about asking God to fulfill our needs, not our wants, but our needs, as only He knows them.
