Convert Recieves RCIA Instruction Online!

A British born woman married to a Muslim and living in Turkey has been catecheticaly instructed via email as she lives approximately 300 miles away from the nearest Catholic Church! I was really pleased to learn that her husband is sensitive to her desire to live a spiritually Catholic existance, but wonder if he considered his wife’s conversion as a significant threat since she’s hardly going to be attending weekly Mass!

Still, I can’t help but rejoice as another sheep comes into the fold of Holy Mother Church… when I heard the call to Catholicism, little did I know that my children and then later, my parents, would also follow me into the Church that Christ founded…perhaps Anthea Gurkan’s husband may find himself drawn to Catholicism at some point too, through the Christian witness and practice (…albeit limited, bearing in mind her inability to attend Mass and receive the Sacraments regularly) of his wife.

Quote from Vatican II Document – DECREE ON THE APOSTOLATE OF LAY PEOPLE, “In its desire to intensify the apostolic activity of the people of God, the Council now earnestly turns its thoughts to the Christian laity. Mention has already been made in other documents of the laity’s special and indispensable role in the mission of the Church. Indeed, the Church can never be without the lay apostolate; it is something that derives from the layman’s very vocation as a Christian. Scripture clearly shows how spontaneous and fruitful was this activity in the Church’s early days (cf. Acts 11:19-21; 18:26; Romans 16:1-16; Phil. 4:3).”
