I scarce can tell the day time from the night
So heavy is my heart and such its pain
And yet there was a time when it took flight
When nothing on this earth, could it restrain
Long departed are those days of love and laughter
Though their memories so oft I do recall
I fear for us there’ll be no happy ever after
Nor peace be made before our final curtain call.
But while I have a breath to breathe within me
It shall be of all, my most sincere prayer
That I may dream of you just as you were, beside me
And awaking from my slumber, find you there.
